Liberal House Leader Michel Samson is taking direct aim at the Dexter Government after concerns were raised about conditional sentences.
Judges in the Province are raising alarm bells that they are seeing more and more people under house arrest being returned to the courts because they have breached conditions of their release.
Samson says “this is exactly what we predicted when the justice system was targeted for cuts.”
Samson went on to say “Our police are already tasked with try to address some of the violent crime we have seen not having to let’s say babysit those with these conditional sentences.”
Samson says cuts to Parole and Probation programs along with cuts to the Provinces Ankle Bracelet program can be blamed for the lack of oversight of those under conditional sentences.
