Nova Scotians will get to see a consultant’s report done on Nova Scotia Power’s finances in its entirety.
The report done by the Liberty Consultant Group was heavily redacted by the utility over concerns the information included could damage the NSP’s competitiveness.
Nova Scotia Power Chief Executive Rob Bennett says “Some of the fuels that we buy, is competitive information in those markets, so we cannot have that released and have other fuel suppliers know what we’ve paid.”
The UARB disagreed with the assertions from Nova Scotia Power. In its decision the review board said the public interest in disclosure outweighs private confidentiality.
The Board also says it doesn’t believe that Nova Scotia Power’s ability to do business or to procure fuel will be harmed by releasing the report.
