Christmas parcel deadline today

Canada Post is urging customers to get their parcels and cards in the mail as soon as possible.

Today is the last day to send packages anywhere in Canada with a guaranteed delivery before Christmas Day, without paying extra.

“The sooner you get it to us the sooner we can get it to people and they can enjoy it for that much longer,” said Canada Post spokesperson John Caines.

There are actually numerous deadlines between now and Christmas and each one depends on what is being sent, and to where.

“Some deadlines have already passed,” said Caines. “South Central America was October, as well as New Zealand and Australia.”

For parcels travelling in Canada, Dec. 10 is the deadline.

Canada Post is recommending dropping cards, going across the country, in mailboxes by Dec. 17, while cards destined within your community don’t have to be posted until Dec 19.

Canada Post Priority Parcel Service and courier services like FedEx and UPS will still deliver parcels and cards beyond today’s deadline. The last guaranteed day for priority post is Dec 22.
