Safety vests don’t save couple from hit and run

RCMP are investigating a double hit and run Monday evening in the Tantallon area, which has put one man in hospital.

Police responded to a call of a vehicle-pedestrian collision on Club Road near Lakewood Drive in the Brookside area around 6:42 p.m.

“A local couple in their 60s were walking, wearing reflective safety vests, when a vehicle struck both of them and knocked the male to the ground,” Sgt. Mike Lidstone told News 95.7, Tuesday morning.

The man was knocked to the ground and hit his head. Both were taken to hospital by Emergency Health Services.

The man is being treated for a head injury, which is considered non-life threatening.

Lidstone said it’s not believed road conditions were a factor, even though black ice was reported around the region. At least one crash in Sackville Monday evening has been attributed to black ice.

RCMP are warning drivers to be cautious on the roads this morning.
