Cruise ship musician facing child porn charges

A Manitoba musician has been arrested on a cruise ship docked in Halifax.

Sean Richard Bell, 36, of Morden, Man., is charged with possessing, smuggling and importing child pornography.

Bell worked on the Holland America ship Veendam, which left Boston on Saturday and was headed for stops this week in several Canadian and American ports along the eastern seaboard.

An online biography says Bell is a performer in “Neptune’s Trio” on board the ship, and has been working cruise lines since 2006.

Officials with Canada Border Services say images of child pornography were found on electronic equipment during a routine search of the ship on Monday morning.
