Percy Paris to complete adult diversion program

MLA Percy Paris’ assault case was back in court in Halifax this morning.

The matter has been put over until October, so the Waverly-Fall River-Beaverbank MLA has time to complete an adult diversion program.

If he successfully completes the program, his record would be wiped clear of the charges against him, including assault and uttering threats.

Adult Diversion can take many forms from a written apology to community service to a charitable donation.

The charges against Paris are in connection with an alleged incident outside a legislature washroom involving Liberal member Keith Colwell.

Paris resigned as economic and rural development minister in May after saying he lost his composure during the incident.
