Boy, 6, dies and trucker charged in Highway 101 crash

A trucker from Montreal has been charged with Dangerous Driving Causing Death, after a multi-vehicle pile-up on Highway 101 that has killed a six-year-old boy.
The crash happened late Tuesday morning in a construction zone near Exit 7 in the Falmouth area.
RCMP say an RV towing a car and a mini van were stopped by flag people. As they proceeded, a tractor trailer hit the van from behind, which sent the vehicle into the back of the RV.
The female driver of the van, 38, had three children inside with her.
A six-year-old boy and eight-year-old girl were air lifted to the IWK in serious condition, while the driver and a three-year old were transported to the Hants Community Hospital in Windsor.
The boy was pronounced dead on Wednesday. Doctors had stabilized the condition of the girl.
The man driving the tractor-trailer was sent to Hants West Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The man and woman in the motor home were uninjured.
The highway was re-opened to traffic just after 6 p.m.
A 59-year-old Montreal man who was the driver of the transport truck will be appearing in Windsor Provincial Court on Sept 3rd, 2013 at 9:30 a.m on a charge of Dangerous Driving Causing Death.
