Elections N.S. improves voting accessibility

Communications Director for Elections N.S., Dana Phillip Doiron, says in the next general election voters will be able to cast their vote on campus, in the hospital, or from their home.
“With the help of two people who will take the ballot to their home and return it securely,” explains Doirson. “A voter can cast a ballot to be counted on election night right from the comfort of their home, if that is a problem for them.”
He says the provincial legislature made some sweeping changes to the elections act a few years ago, which has given them the ability to change how people vote.
He adds there is no doubt turnout may go up, but the principle reason for the changes is to remove barriers to voting.
