Man charged after calling cops with complaint

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to call the cops and complain about someone who has a legitimate beef with you.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a Spryfield address Thursday night after receiving a phone call about an unwanted man hanging around.

When police interviewed the man, he told them he was there because the person who lived in the Foxwood Terrace residence he was waiting outside of had assaulted his family with bear spray, just a half hour earlier.

Officers confirmed his story and the four victims, who had been sitting in a parked car on Herring Cove Road when the incident happened, were located and treated by Emergency Health Services.

Police say they knew the suspect.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon and breach of a court order and was set to appear in Halifax Provincial Court Friday morning.
