Mooseheads’ less than stellar comeback spoils celebratory return

The Halifax Mooseheads received a standing ovation from the 9,301 fans in attendance at the Metro Centre as the club unveiled its President’s and Memorial Cup banners, but the team’s performance on the ice was less than stellar.
The herd gave up three first period goals and could not solve Wildcats goalie Alex Dubeau in a 4-0 loss to Moncton.
Dubeau turned aside 28 shots to earn first star honours. Halifax went 0-8 on the power play.
“Moving our feet and winning battles, that’s where we have to start,” said captain Trey Lewis. “You know we lost way too many battles tonight and that’s definitely got to change if we’re going to have success this year.”
Former standout players Jody Shelley, Jason King and Travis Randell were invloved in the pre-game ceremony.
The Mooseheads play their first road game of the season tonight in Charlottetown at 7 p.m. on News 95.7.
