Cape Breton man denied bail in attempted murder case

SYDNEY, N.S. – A 43-year-old Cape Breton man charged with attempted murder remains in custody after being denied bail.
Simon Wilfred Bonnar of St. Margaret Village is also charged with dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, and mischief following an Oct. 9 incident on the wharf in Bay St. Lawrence.
RCMP were called to the wharf after receiving a report a vehicle with two people inside was forced off the end of the wharf by a pickup truck.
The two people inside the car were able to swim to shore although they received minor injuries.
Bonnar is being held at the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.
He is scheduled to return to court Friday when a possible trial date could be set.
