No transfer for Despres

Gregory Allan Despres is staying put.

The man deemed not criminally responsible in the 2005 deaths of 74-year-old Fred Fulton and 70-year-old Verna Decarie will remain at the Shepody Healing Centre in Dorcester.

A hearing was expected to be held yesterday to look at whether Despres would be transferred to the Restigouche Hospital Centre in Campbellton, but the hearing was cancelled, and request for a transfer was withdrawn.

Restigouche Hospital Centre is a provincial facility and it is less secure.
