Dunderdale confident Maritime Link project will go ahead

The premier of Newfoundland and Labrador says she’s confident Nova Scotia’s Maritime Link project will go ahead even though the Nova Scotia government says the project exposes the province’s ratepayers to too much risk.

Kathy Dunderdale was responding to comments made Monday by Nova Scotia Energy Minister Andrew Younger.

Younger told Nova Scotia’s energy regulator his government wouldn’t support construction of the subsea electric transmission link between the two provinces unless Halifax-based energy company Emera Inc. met eight conditions, one of which requires Emera to assume more risk.

Dunderdale says Nova Scotia is just looking for eight points of clarification.
