Another increase in gas prices expected

Even with an inventory report on the way that is expected to show oil supplies are in good shape, the price of gas is expected to go up tonight.

News 95.7 is predicting an increase of about a penny a litre when the UARB resets prices at midnight.

Dan McTeague with told News 95.7 the increase is another sign we need to get away from a regulated market in Nova Scotia

He added, the west to east pipeline can’t happen soon enough, so we can stop relying on foreign imports over which we have very little control of the prices.

When you see fuel prices as high as they are in the east, when you see that kind of differential, it creates a competitive advantage for pretty much every other jurisdiction in North America and we are really hung out to dry until that pipeline actually reaches us in the east,” explained McTeague.

Across the border in New Brunswick, the price of gas went up 1.3 cents per litre overnight to a new maximum price of $129.5.
