High winds affecting travel and causing power outages

RCMP are advising drivers to avoid Highway 104, west bound.
Staff Sargent Law Power said the snow is making the Cobequid Pass difficult to navigate.
“The Department of Transportation have their vehicles and out there and equipment operating trying to get the road cleared up and get the vehicles moving,” said Power, “However the weather conditions and the road conditions out there right now are very poor.”
In Halifax there are a number of reports of snow covered roads.
Fire and Nova Scotia Power crews are on scene in the Brule Street and Pinecrest Dr. area of Dartmouth where a transformer has exploded and a power pole is on fire.
The MacKay bridge is now closed to high-sided vehicles and the MacDonald bridge has closed its sidewalk and bike lanes however a shuttle is now available.
Some delays and cancellations are also showing up on the Halifax Stanfield International Airport website, if you’re flying today it’s a good idea to check ahead.
Also, more than 5,000 Nova Scotia Power customers without electricity this morning after high winds caused a number of outages across the province.
The hardest hit area appears to be in the Amherst and Truro areas but, there are scattered outages around HRM as well, according to Nova Scotia Powers Live Outage Map.
NSP is hoping to have the bulk of the outages restored by 7:30 Wednesday morning.

- Route 66 Cobequid detoured: left on Primrose, right on Crystal. Gaston bound: left on Primrose, right at Pinecrest, left at Albro Lake.
- Route 72 Dartmouth Crossing detouring: left on Primrose, right on Pinecrest, left on Albro Lake to regular routing.
- Route 53 detouring: right on Primrose, left on Pinecrest, right on Crystal to regular routing.
