Autopsy photos shown at murder trial

PICTOU, N.S. – The jury hearing evidence in the first-degree murder trial of Christopher Falconer has been shown autopsy photos taken after the stabbing death of Amber Kirwan, 19.

A forensic identification officer for the RCMP also showed the 13-member jury photographs taken the day Kirwan’s body was found buried in a shallow grave in the woods near New Glasgow.

That was on November 5th, 2011 almost a month after Kirwan was last seen leaving a pool hall in the town.

In all, Sgt. Darlene MacEachern had presented more than two hundred photographs by the time her testimony concluded yesterday the fifth day of the trial in Pictou.

Falconer was charged in May 2012 and he later pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Nova Scotia Supreme Court case resumes Monday.
