U-vints get consultation kits as Nova Scotia plans legal changes

The province is sending out consutlation packages to u-vints and u-brews around Nova Scotia as it moves toward legalizing the small businesses, as promised during the election.

Wine Kitz Halifax owner Ross Harrington said it’s important for operators to help craft the adjustments to the legislation.

“You wouldn’t let me make decisions about health and safety in Nova Scotia — you have to consult people who are knowledgeable,” said Harrington. “In this case, it’s the operators. No one knows better our marketplace.”

He hopes everyone who gets a package from Finance Minister Diana Whalen will get involved.

“I know that Diana spoke of a link on the web site where even the general public can get involved,” said Harrington.

Harrington is confident the Liberals want to get this checked off the list so they can move onto bigger issues.

Operators have until February 10th to give their input.
