Doctor suspended for improper vaccinations gets medical licence back

The doctor at the centre of an investigation into improper vaccinations has his medical licence back.

Dr. William Vitale had his licence revoked in December after it was discovered he was mixing vaccinations into one shot.

Head of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, Dr. Gus Grant, told The Chronicle Herald that the suspension was always to be on an interim basis.

Grant said the investigation is ongoing, but the college is confident Dr. Vitale can return to his normal practice safely.

However, Dr. Vitale will not be able to give vaccinations nor authorize anyone else to immunize patients.

Officials are still trying to find the 500 or more patients that may have received the mixed shots from Dr. Vitale between 1992 and 1994, and again 2003 through 2013.
