A car caught on fire and knocked out power to parts of the peninsula this morning when it hit a pole on Wellington Street near Inglis at around 2:30 a.m. this morning.
Police say the driver fled the scene, but they caught up with him quickly and arrested the 19-year-old.
The man was not injured, and charges are expected to be laid once police are finished with their investigation.
Power has been restored to the affected areas, however as of 7 a.m. Wellington Street remains closed as crews clean-up.
