Winter storm #16 causes cancellations throughout the province

An unwelcome surprise to start your Wednesday, that 2 to 4 centimetres of snow we were expecting this morning has turned into 10 to 15 centimetres, and a lot of that has already fallen.

Road crews are now scrambling to clean things up, but indications are it’s going to be a tricky drive into work at best.

Meteorologist Richard Zurawski told News 95.7 it’s just a matter of degrees.

“This low pressure tracked further to the south, we wound up in the cold sector with the exception of the south shore of Nova Scotia which got a little more rain than snow,” explained Zurawski.

He said we’re going to get 10 to 20 millimetres of rain on top of this snow, turning the city into a slushy, messy mix.

Zurawski warned there’s another 10 to 15 centimetres of snow on the way in a couple days.
