Scholarship set up in Saunders’ memory

A number of groups are joining forces to form a legacy for Loretta Saunders and other aboriginal women who are missing, or have been murdered.
The Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association, along with Dalhousie University hosted a roundtable discussion yesterday, citing education and research support as first priority.
Saunders was working on a thesis on missing and murdered aboriginal women before she was found dead, and her thesis supervisor, Darrell Leroux, told Global News there is now a scholarship in her memory.
“Indigenous women will be able to apply for this scholarship and attend a university in the Atlantic provinces,” said Leroux.
So far, more than $40-thousand has been raised.
