Oland murder case returns to court

SAINT JOHN, N.B.- A high-profile case is set to return to a Saint John courtroom today.

After a four-month hiatus, the homicide case against Dennis Oland will return before a judge today.

The next six weeks have been set aside for a preliminary inquiry which will determine if there is enough evidence for Oland to stand trial on a second degree murder charge in the death of his father, Richard Oland.

It’s unknown if Dennis Oland will be in the courtroom today.

The 45-year old was arrested and charge in November over two years after Richard Oland was found dead in his Saint John office.

Court documents released last year named Dennis Oland as the prime suspect in the homicide investigation.

A release from Dennis’ uncle, Derek Oland, states the Oland family believes Dennis is innocent, and the family will support him through whatever legal actions unfold.
