HALIFAX – Lawyers gathered at the Halifax Provincial Court this morning for a pre-trial focus hearing in the Loretta Saunders murder case.
The preliminary inquiry is slated to begin on July 21, through to July 25.
Crown attorney Christine Driscoll said fingerprint reports were just received and will be disclosed to the defence.
“Essentially, right now, the last thing that we haven’t provided was a fingerprint report that we’re going to give out today, we just got last week,” she said. “And the other things that were referred to were more aids for the preliminary, like diagrams and pictures, but not things that would be considered traditional disclosure.”
Lawyer Terry Sheppard is defending Blake Leggette, and Pat Atherton is representing Victoria Henneberry.
Both Leggette and Henneberry are charged with the first-degree murder of Loretta Saunders, whose body was found along a the Trans-Canada Highway near Salisbury, N.B. on February 26th.
Saunders was a 26-year-old pregnant student attending Saint Mary’s University in Halifax.
