Record temperatures in Halifax

Yesterday was a record breaker in Halifax.

The temperature at Halifax Stanfield International Airport reached 16 degrees, breaking the old record high of 14.4 degrees set back in 1953.

News 95.7 meteorologist Richard Zurawski said a low pressure system moving to the north is responsible for the warm temperature

“We’re on the right side of this thing, so that means we’ll continue to get the warm temperatures, at least for today,” said Zurawski.

The record high for this date is 16 degrees, also set in 1953, and with temperatures hovering around the 15 degree mark this morning that could fall as well.

Temperatures are expected to return to normal as a disturbance is on its way which could bring snow later this week.
