Downward trend in gas prices continues

The Boxing Week sale continues as Nova Scotians start off 2015 with another drop at the gas pumps.

Regulated gas prices fell at midnight by 3.2 cents a litre to a new minimum of 94.3.

A bigger drop this morning in the price of diesel, fuel price fell by 4.6 cents a litre to a new minimum price of 107.4.

One year ago we were paying $1.35 for gasoline, $1.42 for diesel.  Oil was trading at $95.39 U.S., which is just under $42 a barrel more than yesterday’s closing price of $52.40.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price of regular gasoline across Canada has dipped to less than 96-cents a litre.

That’s down almost two cents from a week ago.

In the United States, a survey shows the average price of regular is down to $2.24 U.S. per American gallon — which converts to 69-cents a litre in Canadian money.
