New Halifax police mascot needs name

Halifax police have a new mascot.

Spokesperson Pierre Bourdages says a rabbit showed up in the bushes in front of police headquarters on Gottingen Street.

“He has a very safe area,” Bourdages said. “He has his tunnel and his little residence on the front lawn of the police station.”

Bourdages says, according to some officers, the rabbit hopped onto the scene a few weeks ago.

“With the sun out now, the bunny has been out just basking in the sun and enjoying the sights,” he said.

Bourdages says he has yet to get close enough to the creature to actually determine if it’s male or female.

And police have yet to come up with a name.

“If someone has a suggestion as to what he should be named, send it our way,” he said.

We’ve asked for rabbit name submissions on Twitter.
