Halifax airport reviewing backup generators

Halifax Stanfield International Airport spent the early morning hours testing the terminal’s backup generators.

The airport lost power early Sunday morning after Air Canada flight 624 crash landed upon arrival from Toronto.

They say two of their generators kicked in, but only briefly before shutting down, and they’re trying to find out why.

The airport says a third generator responsible for airfield lighting worked properly.

They add NAVCANADA is assessing equipment damaged during the incident, and they don’t know how long it will take to make repairs.

Stanfield International’s main runway remains out of operation, planes have been taking off and landing on a secondary runway since Sunday morning.

Passengers are still encouraged to check with airlines for any flight schedule delays.
