DIGBY, N.S. – Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating a motorcycle crash in Digby Saturday morning, that sent a 45-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries.
Digby RCMP said they were tipped off to a possible impaired motorcycle rider at around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, and when they located the man and tried to arrest him, he drove off and was involved in a crash seconds later near First Avenue and Church Street.
The man was taken to hospital with what SIRT called ‘serious injuries’.
In a release on Saturday, SiRT said the man was taking part in the Wharf Rat Rally in Digby over the long weekend, which attracts thousands of motorcyclists every year.
SIRT is responsible for investigating any serious incident involving police in Nova Scotia.
