The Mike Babcock-era of the Maple Leafs officially begins today.
Training camp opens in the Toronto-area with 73 players heading in for physicals and interviews before coming to Nova Scotia for their first on-ice sessions.
General manager Lou Lamoriello doesn’t think it will take long for Babcock to have an impact on the players.
“I think the players will immediately see who Mike Babcock is,” he said. “Just the say he runs his practice, how detailed he is and how he holds players accountable by simply what will be accepted and what won’t.”
The team will hold on-ice sessions at Bedford’s BMO Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to the Leafs, only 400 tickets will be sold each day, and they can only be bought the morning of that day’s session on a first-come-first-served basis.
Sales will be restricted to two per person and payment is cash-only.
All proceeds of the $5 dollar ticket will be donated to KidSport Nova Scotia, a program of Sport Nova Scotia.
NEWS 95.7 will be on site all weekend, with The Rick Howe Show broadcasting live on location Friday.
