SHUBENACADIE, N.S. – Nova Scotia’s famous groundhog Shubenacadie Sam is now live online.

Fans of the furry critter can watch via the “Sam Cam” to see the groundhog before he appears at the annual Groundhog Day ceremony on February 2nd.

“Sam is well loved by groundhog groupies around the world and the online Sam Cam is one of the most popular internet cameras this time of year,” said Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines in a news release.

The best times to view Sam at Nova Scotia Webcams are 8 a.m. 11:45 a.m. and 4 p.m., when park staff feed and interact with the four-legged forecaster.

People can also turn out to see Sam in person by attending the Groundhog Day ceremony at 7:30 a.m. at the wildlife park on Feb. 2.

If Sam sees his shadow that morning, folklore says there will be six more weeks of winter.
