Upgrades set for storied coffeehouse where Bob Dylan played

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York folk music venue where Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Don McLean and many other stars of the genre played early in their careers is getting a $1.25 million makeover.
The not-for-profit organization that runs Caffe Lena (LEE’-nuh) in downtown Saratoga Springs says Tuesday it has entered into a $500,000 philanthropic partnership with a local business, Bonacio (buh-NAH’-chee-oh) Construction. The company will construct a four-story building in the parking lot next to the building that houses the 55-year-old coffeehouse.
The builders will also update Caffe Lena’s flooring and roofing, expand the live music room from 85 to 110 seats and make other improvements to the venue’s interior. Construction is expected to start in the spring.
Caffe Lena has received $800,000 in donations for its $1.25 million renovation campaign.
