Man arrested after convenience store robbery

HALIFAX – A Halifax man will appear in court Thursday to face various robbery and weapons-related charges after a convenience store robbery near the Halifax Common on Wednesday night.
Police said a man entered Tony’s Variety on Robie Street with what was believed to be a gun around 10 p.m. Wednesday, and demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk working at the store.
The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and smokes, while police said the employee was not hurt.
A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection to the robbery around 1 a.m., according to police, who said he’ll be formally charged when he appears in court later on Thursday.
