Warm temperatures means March Breakers can inline skate at Emera Oval

Skating at the Emera Oval is a popular March Break activity, but Halifax Regional Municipality says unseasonably warm temperatures have made maintaining ice quality a challenge.

An early end to the ice skating season at the oval means Haligonians will get a sneak peek at the inline skating season.

Parks and Recreation staff hope to have the surface up and running for inline skaters soon.

It will be usable throughout the final weekend of March Break before it shuts down temporarily for official summer skating preparations.

Equipment can be borrowed on site with a government ID, and a helmet is required for all users as per provincial regulations.

The municipality says the Emera Oval had over 120,000 visitors this winter.
