Haligonians could have slick morning drive Friday, parking ban to be enforced

It looks like Old Man Winter isn’t quite through with us yet.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Halifax.
NEWS 95.7 meteorologist Richard Zurawski says we can expect the mess to start late this afternoon or early tonight.
“We’re looking at snow and ice pellets, and we’re looking at the possibility of freezing rain,” he explained. “About 2, maybe 4 centimetres of snow and ice pellets as the temperature drops to -2 overnight.”
Roads could be slippery in the morning, and drivers are encouraged to give themselves plenty of time to scrap windshields and prepare for a longer than normal commute.
Halifax Regional Municipality says they will be enforcing the parking ban overnight from 1 to 6 a.m. Friday.
Zurawski expects it will start to taper off in the morning after leaving us with a total of 5 to 10 centimetres, but Zurawski said it wouldn’t stick around for long.
“The daytime high tomorrow afternoon is 2 degrees, so the good news is as soon as that comes down, the melt is going to start,” he explained. “For Saturday and Sunday we’re looking at daytime highs of 5 to 8 degrees.”
