Halifax Central Library wins architecture award

The new Halifax Central Library has won an prestigious design award.
The building on Spring Garden Road has been named one of the 12 winners of the Governor General’s Medal for Architecture.
In awarding the prize, panelists from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada said that the public’s embrace of the building is testament to its value.
The original design was created by Halifax-based Fowler Bauld & Mitchell.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Rideau Hall in September.
