Charges pending following shooting in Cape Breton

INVERNESS COUNTY, NS – Three people in Cape Breton have been charged in connection with a shooting.
R-C-M-P say a 34 year-old-man was shot in the leg, he has since been released from hospital after the shooting in Skye Glenn, Inverness County around 11:20 p.m., on Friday June 2.
Police say they searched the area and took two men into custody, a 27-year-old man on Friday and a 33-year-old man on Saturday afternoon.
A 21 year-old-woman was arrested as well, but was later released.
Two homes were searched on June 4, where firearms, ammunition and drugs were seized; including marijuana and six kilograms of Cocaine.
Justin Francis Goswell (27) from Judique, James Edwin ‘Tyler’ Goswell (33) of Stewartdale and Makayla Sutherland (21) from Harbourview were all charged.
Justin Francis Goswell has been charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Firearm Without a Licence
- Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited by Order
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
James Edwin ‘Tyler’ Goswell has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Without a Licence
- Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Restricted Firearm obtained by the Commission of a Crime
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Makayla Sutherland has been charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Justin and Tyler Goswell appeared in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on June 5. They are scheduled to return to court on June 13. Meanwhile, Mackayla Sutherland has been released and will return in court at a later date.
The investigation continues.
