HALIFAX – Police are searching for the person who set a fire inside the Atlantic Superstore on Joseph Howe Drive Friday evening.

Police were called to the store at around 6 p.m. Friday after staff reported a small fire in one of the aisles, which was quickly put out by Halifax Fire crews as the store was evacuated.

Fire officials determined the fire was intentionally set, according to police, who said they're now looking for a male suspect.

The man is described as being in his late 40's or early 50's, with grey hair and a goatee. He was wearing glasses with thick rims, jeans, a blue puffy-style waist length coat and a blue baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call police at 902-490-5016 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
