Man facing second-degree murder charge in Deborah Yorke homicide (update)

Halifax Regional Police say a 23-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Deborah Yorke.
Brandon Jake Hollohan, 23, was arrested Thursday without incident. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday.
Officers were called to 3 Farthington Place just after 4 a.m. last Sunday where they pronounced 63-year-old Yorke dead at the scene.
In a news conference Friday afternoon, Superintendent Jim Perrin said the accused and victim were known to each other. He wouldn't specify how, only saying the two were “acquaintances.”
He also said the suspect is known to police.
“The suspect has been charged in the past by our department,” he explained.
Investigators remain on scene at 3 Farthington Place. They are also at 68 Jackson Road, where police said earlier this week they were executing a search warrant.
Yorke's homicide was the second death in the area in two days.
Officers were also called to nearby Pinecrest Drive at 4:25 p.m. on last Friday, where they found the body of 42-year-old Derek Miles of Dartmouth.
The Medical Examiner's office also ruled that death a homicide.
Perrin said there's no reason to believe the cases are connected.
