For those hoping to secure tickets to the successful production of MAMMA MIA! at Neptune Theatre, you may be in luck. Due to unprecedented demand, Neptune is today announcing a second extension, adding 14 more performances from July 5 to July 15 at its downtown Halifax theatre.

“We’ve been blown away by the response to the show. We wanted to give as many people the chance to experience its magic and the box office is ready for the calls!” says Artistic Director Jeremy Webb. “The energy and soul of our show has captured the hearts of Nova Scotians and it is gratifying each night to hear the reaction from the sold-out crowds. Folks are jumping to their feet and reacting in a way I have not seen before in my 20 years at Neptune,” continues Webb. “I commend our cast and crew for injecting the show with a joy that is infectious. We owe the success of Mamma Mia to them.”

The musical, featuring songs from Swedish pop group ABBA, stars Julie Martell as Donna and Cynthia Smithers as Sophie, her daughter. On the eve of her wedding, Sophie secretly invites three men from her mother’s past in hopes of learning the true identity of her father, whom she dreams will walk her down the aisle. In addition to the title song, Mamma Mia, the musical also features many of the super group’s greatest hits and most popular songs.

MAMMA MIA! is sponsored by AUDI Halifax, Premiere Suites, The Berkeley, Exxon Mobil, Imperial, Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette and TELUS.

More than 33,000 people have already seen the Halifax production. MAMMA MIA! remains one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history, where it ran for 14 years until closing in 2015. It has been on stage In London’s West End for 19 years, where it is still being performed. Later this year, a sequel to the 2008 film, based on the musical, will be released to theatres.

Starring alongside Julie Martell and Cynthia Smithers is Jahlen Barnes (Sky), Karen Burthwright (Rosie), Clint Butler (Bill), Jay Davis (Sam), Tim Funnell (Harry), Jessica Gallant (Ali), Trudy Lee Gayle (Lisa), Ryan Gifford (Eddie, and Dance Captain), David Light (Pepper), Alison J. Palmer (Tanya), and Mitch Wood (Father Alexandrios and ensemble). The ensemble includes Danielle Benton, Deborah Castrilli, Kirstin Howell, Galen Johnson, Celia Koughan, Sarah O'Brecht, Brett Owen, Matt Raffy, and Natasha Strilchuk.
