Kinap Beach reopens

Halifax Regional Municipality says swimmers can now head to Kinap Beach.
Earlier this week, tests at the Porters Lake swimming spot indicated high bacteria levels in the water, but HRM says follow-up tests show the water is safe again.
The water quality at all supervised and four unsupervised beaches in HRM is regularly tested in the summer months.
As of Friday afternoon, Birch Cove, Black Rock and Kinsman beaches also remain closed.
In addition, the municipality has also issued a risk advisory for Lake Banook and Lake Micmac due to the presence of algae blooms.
They are asking the public to avoid swimming, wading or allowing pets in the affected areas until they can confirm it's safe.
Residents can check the status of their favourite municipal beach online.
