A 21-year old Dartmouth man is taking a swing at the big leagues after being drafted by the New York Yankees.
Jake Sanford was picked 105th in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft.
The outfielder makes history as the highest-drafted Nova Scotian ever, bypassing Steve Nelson, who was taken 160th overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2001.
He was ranked 107th in MLB.com's 2019 Prospect Watch after a breakout junior year playing in the NCAA at Western Kentucky University.
Sanford tweeted it is a privilege to have been selected by the Yankees, adding, “This is just the beginning.”
