Power restored after thousands wake up in the dark in Dartmouth (update)

UPDATE: Nova Scotia Power's outage map indicates power was restored to the area around 7:20 a.m.

Nova Scotia Power is reporting a large outage in Dartmouth on Wednesday morning has become even bigger.. 

As of 6 a.m., more than 3,000 customers were in the dark in an area stretching from the Portland Estates into Woodlawn and over to Cole Harbour. 

By 7 a.m., the utility was reporting an additional 3,000 without power in an area overlapping the first outage. 

The utility said emergency line repair was underway. 

The lights were expected to be back on by 7:45 a.m.
