Splashifax floats new location for inflatable water park

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Plans to bring an inflatable water park to First Lake in Lower Sackville this summer have been scrapped.

Councillor Paul Russell took to social media to say he was informed by Splashifax that the water park will no longer be coming to the community due what the company said were challenges at the location, including zoning.

But that doesn't necessarily mean the project won't be going forward.

Splashifax posted an update to Facebook saying, “We are in discussions with a few private and public community partners, including Lake Echo District Park (HRM) to determine the best location to bring this summer fun.”

The idea to bring the water park featuring a giant unicorn to First Lake was a controversial one that was met with mixed reviews from the community.

Over 500 people signed an online petition to stop Splashifax from coming to the lake, citing concerns surrounding traffic, aesthetics and the environment.
