Man charged with first degree murder in Halifax homicide

A 25-year-old man is facing charges, including first degree murder, in a stabbing Thursday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say a man went into a Brunswick Street business at around 9:15 a.m. and attacked a staff member before running off.

Tony Nader was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries where the 55-year-old later died.

A customer tried to intervene. The 66-year-old man was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

In addition to first degree murder, Cymon Felix Cormier is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Police do not believe this was a random incident.

Anyone with information or video from the Queen Street area between Spring Garden Road and Victoria Road from 9 to 9:30 a.m. yesterday is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.
