Man charged with breaking into north end vehicle

A man is facing charges after a vehicle break-in in the north end.

Halifax Regional Police were called to a theft in progress on Mont Blanc Terrace Wednesday at around 7:35 p.m.

Police say when the vehicle's owner got in the car, a man who had been stealing property from it took off.

A suspect was arrested nearby.

Michael Donald Clarke, 39, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face one count each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. 

Anyone whose vehicle has been broken into is encouraged to file a report with police, either by calling 902-490-5016 or through HRP's online crime reporting site

If your licence plate or government identification is stolen, report it to police immediately. 

Anyone who sees anything suspicious around parked vehicles, like someone pulling on door handles, should call police immediately at 902-490-5020.
