A woman is facing serious charges after allegedly causing a fire in New Glasgow.
According to New Glasgow Police, the incident stretches back to June 3, when police, emergency crews and the New Glasgow Fire Department responded to a blaze at a duplex on Dalcrombie Drive.
While police say no one was hurt in the fire, it did cause significant damage to the residence.
An investigation under the guidance of the New Glasgow Police Major Crime Unit with assistance from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal determined arson was to blame.
A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and will face several charges, including arson, disregard for human life and failure to comply with a release order.
She appeared in Pictou Provincial Court on Tuesday and has been remanded into custody until she returns before a judge at a later date.
