A new study shows 74 per cent of Atlantic Canadians have winter tires, the highest percentage in Canada for provinces where winter tires aren't required.
The Canadian Consumer Winter Tire study found Atlantic Canada's rate to be almost 10 per cent higher than anywhere else in Canada, except Quebec where winter tires are legally required.
The vast majority of drivers with winter tires say they have them to protect themselves and their family, and 8-in-10 drivers believe investing in winter tires is important despite living costs.
Almost half of drivers who don't use winter tires say they believe all-seasons are good enough, and over one third say it's due to not driving as much during the winter months.
Ontario and Saskatchewan both show over 60 per cent of drivers use winter tires, while Manitoba has the lowest amount, at just 54 percent.
