Dartmouth outage leaves thousands without power (update)

By Mark Hodgins

A large area of Dartmouth was without power on Monday morning.

Nova Scotia Power's outage map reported an outage impacting some 4,400 customers around 9:30 a.m., in an area stretching from Albro Lake into the downtown area.

The utility blamed damaged equipment for the outage.

Power was expected to be restored by 1 p.m., after the utility originally said the lights would be back on by 11:45 a.m.

The utility also reported an outage in eastern HRM. Nearly 1,300 customers were impacted in an area stretching from East Lawrencetown to Chezzetcook.

That outage was blamed on damage to overhead equipment, with restoration expected at 1:15 p.m.
