Work is beginning on several new long-term care homes in the Halifax area.
Minister Barbara Adams made the announcement on Wednesday morning in Lower Sackville, where one of the new facilities will be located.
“These new living spaces will help shorten waitlists and, more importantly, they will give our seniors the opportunity to live in dignity and comfort,” Adams said.
The locations are slated to open in 2025. The province said the facilities will open up more than 700 spaces for people in need of long-term care.
Government said the rooms will all be for one person and will have a private bathroom.
Negotiations are also underway for a seventh Halifax-area facility, which the province said would add another 90 spaces.
