Health care administration staff are expected to protest outside of hospitals in Nova Scotia for a second time today.
On Sept. 25, thousands of health administrative professionals and supporters gathered outside the Dickson Building at the QEII Health Sciences on University Avenue, Dartmouth General Hospital and nine other hospitals around the province.
According to the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU), the so-called Day of Action lunch hour protest will draw attention to the workers’ nearly three-year old expired contract.
Job action for administrators cannot be taken without an Essential Services Agreement so the protest will shed light on what the NSGEU says are some of the lowest paid workers in the health care sector.
The NSGEU website states the protest coincides with a return to the bargaining table today.
Other areas where staff will participate in the Day of Action around the province include:
- Cape Breton, Cape Breton Regional Hospital
- Truro, Colchester East Hants Health Centre
- Windsor, Hants Community Hospital
- Kentville, Valley Regional Hospital
- Bridgewater, South Shore Regional Hospital
- Yarmouth, Yarmouth Regional Hospital
- Antigonish, St. Martha’s Regional Hospital
- New Glasgow, Aberdeen Hospital
- Amherst, Cumberland Colchester Hospital
